Q Consider the studies on trait theories in leadership. Of the characteristics that emerge as critical to effective leadership, which seem most critical to project managers? Why?
Before discussing which trait theories which are critical for project managers I would like to discuss what is the trait theory of Leadership (Func, n.d.). The Trait Theory of Leadership is based on the assumptions where few people are born with traits and these traits are always particularly suited to leadership (Func, n.d.). This theory has the goal to discover the specific leadership and the personality traits that can be used to predict the chances of failure or success. The trait can be used to approach the personality (Func, n.d.). This can be used to focus on the differences between the individuals. The trait approach can be considered to be one of the first systematic attempts to study leadership (Func, n.d.). There are a lot of essential leadership skills for the project manager start with motivating and inspiring the teams, negotiation and communication skills, listening and influencing skills which would help in improving the team performance (Func, n.d.). So according to me, I think that a project manager must know how to face challenges (Box, n.d.).
